1/12/05: The case of Lauren Edwards aka The Babysitter Case has officially been announced as being UNSOLVED.
Although evidence says that Lauren Edwards did
attempt to kill Joey or Joseph Veneto, other evidence and statements from Joey and his farther, as well as Lauren herself,
contradict what evidence claimed happened. The strange part is that Lauren had no motive; she has no record of previous crimes
and gets A's and B's in school; she had babysat for the Veneto’s
many times before, and no problems were reported; it just doesn’t seem to add up.
Joey claims that Lauren did try to kill him using his father’s chainsaw
—Joey was nearly killed form chainsaw wounds on his upper chest and neck—But he also said it was very dark
in his room, and that he couldn’t make out who it was, but he could of course, only assume it was Lauren. On the other
hand Lauren claims that it was not her, but a mysterious man in a tan trench coat. She claims that the following events occurred…
1). She put Joey asleep, and then went downstairs and read a story, she feel asleep while reading the
story, She wakes up and claims that there was a strange man in the window facing her, he then apparently suddenly vanished.
2). A Blackout
occurred; she went outside to switch the breakers on; on her way was the chainsaw, the same chainsaw (lying on a work bench)
that was used in trying to murder Joseph Veneto. She heard loud noise, and she ran back to see what happened and the chainsaw
was missing.
3). She claims
that once inside Joey startled her (Which he could not confirm), she then put him back to bed.
4). Seconds
after putting Joey to bed, she claims that she heard a loud noise coming from his bedroom. She ran to his room, and found
him what she believed to be dead.
5). She than
claims she ran out into hallway and was almost attacked by the man in the trench coat.
6). She then
Claimed to be woken up by Mr. Veneto (THIS IS CONFIRMED)
